How You Will Be Doing It

Studying the Force
In your group of four, you will be assigned one of the forces to study by your class teacher. You will use the links on the page to gather information that allows you to answer key questions about your force. You will also be asked to explain how your force relates to one of the inventions of Leonardo da Vinci.

Timeframe and Assessment
There is a time limit for these tasks. There will be checkpoints at the end of each week where you will be expected to have completed set tasks. At each checkpoint you will meet with all the people working on the same force to assess and support each other's progress. If tasks are not completed to the group's satisfaction you will be expected to complete in your own time before the next checkpoint.

Checkpoints
Week 1
  • Collect information about your force and how it works onto a mind map.
  • If you were going to explain to a 5 year old how this force works, what would you say?
Week 2
  • Find and explain at least 5 examples of this force in action.
  • Choose two of the examples of the force in action and produce a diagram to explain one and a demonstration using objects to explain the other.
Week 3
  • Use the information you find about da Vinci's invention to label and add notes to a diagram of the invention which your teacher will give you. Your notes should show how your force is used within the invention.
Early Finishers
  • Create a set of 5 or more questions that will challenge and test your audience's understanding of the information in your presentation. You must have covered the information that you will ask about.
Week 4
  • Prepare for your oral presentation to the group about your force. Use your notes from your mindmap and simple definition that you wrote, the diagram and demonstration you prepared in Week 2 and the picture of Da Vinci's invention in week 3 as part of your presentation.
